About Me

I am a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, Hypnotherapist, Laughter Therapist, Reiki Healer, and EFT Practitioner.

I work in private clinical practice here at Trust Therapy, East Sussex, where I offer therapy to both children and adults. In addition, I am a clinician at Butterflies Children’s Therapy, for abuse and trauma victims, CRUSE Bereavement Care, Place2B Children’s Mental Health Services, and Sensory Soft Play, Hastings, for Special Educational Needs (SEN) children. In my clinical practice, with both adults and children, I work integratively, in an organic and client centred manner. Alongside my core therapies, if requested and appropriate, I amalgamate Play, Drama, and Creative / Expressive Arts Therapeutic tools into individually tailored treatment plans, to suit client need.

I am a Professionally Accredited member The National Counselling Society, I am fully insured, and comply with professional supervision and data protection requirements.

Before practicing clinically as an Integrative Psychotherapist, I was trained as an actor at East 15 Acting School and then worked for over 30-years on the stage and in Education, as a Teacher and Senior Lecturer of Drama and Physical Theatre. I am now a qualified Hypnotherapist, Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, Laughter Therapist, EFT Practitioner, and Reiki Healer, and include Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, Mindfulness, Matrix, CBT and other models into my practice.

I am also an ASIST Suicide Interventionist, and in July 2015 I was awarded an International Certificate of recognition from LivingWorks, Canada, for my contributions to building Suicide-Safer Communities. I was a Consultant for the Global MH Awareness Training Programme for Sodexo, one of the world's largest multinational corporations, and I have co-facilitated with the NHS on Stress Reduction courses.

In my previous career in education, I was an Institutional Teaching and Learning Fellow at Edge Hill University (2015-2018) and the designer, founder, and manager of the Student Peer Mentor Scheme in Performing Arts (2010-2018), facilitating the training of student peer mentors in support of student experience, employability, and wellbeing. I was a founder member of the University Peer Mentor working group and a principal author on the University Student Peer Mentor Policy. My research concentrated on Performance and Therapy with particular emphasis on Health and Wellbeing, and I launched a therapeutic theatre company Company, Confiança Collaborative, which concentrates on mental and physical illness, with a view to inspiring opinion and change (www.confiancacollaborative.com). My Practice As Research has explored Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, SEN, and Suicide, and the company has been internationally recognised for having a “positive and constructive impact on society”, The Good News Planet, New York (October 2014 - http://goodnewsplanet.com/lisa-adams-davey-kathleen-whitehead-english-producerhost-racheal-owens/).
